Cognis UK Ltd. produces components (hydroxy monomers) for environmentally friendly paint systems used, for example, in high performance automobile paints. In addition, the company manufactures lubricants (polyalkylene glycols), multifunctional acrylate monomers for coatings, as well as rubber chemicals and ester-based additives for plastic compounds.
On April 1, 2003 Cognis took over Laporte’s plant in Hythe (Hampshire) and several distribution companies. By integrating Laporte Performance Chemicals, Cognis enhances its Functional Products business unit. The acquisition, which encompasses not only production but all business activities including development and sales, significantly strengthens Cognis’ commitment to the British market as well as opening up new growth markets across the globe.
